Usually when you set out to purchase a single serve coffee maker you know what type of coffee you want to use –ground beans or pods and buy a machine relevant to that style of coffee; right? But what happens if you like a mixture of coffee types and don’t want to buy two different machines? The Hamilton Beach Flexbrew is your solution. This small machine is compatible with ground coffee, and k cup coffee pods and with the adjustable cup holder you can brew coffee for a regular cup or for your travel mug making it the most diverse single serve coffee maker on the market.

The Flexbrew is certainly compact measuring in at just 18.7cm x 25.9cm x 37.6cm and weighing in at just 1.8kg. This size makes it perfect for even the smallest spaces while its ability to brew coffee using different beans and extraction processes makes it suitable for even the fussiest of coffee drinkers.

Flexbrew: The Good Qualities

The best thing about the Flexbrew is that you can use everything from soft pods to ground coffee to make your drink of choice. There aren’t many other coffee machines on the market that do this. But aside from this here are just a few of the great features included:

Flexbrew: The Not so Good

Okay, so while the Flexbrew is pretty good it does have a few downsides to it.

• only holds 295ml of water meaning you need to regularly refill it (on the upside, this does mean the water doesn’t go stagnant)
• the basket where you put your ground beans or pods does get hot so it requires a little more care when making multiple cups
• takes longer to brew than some other single serve coffee makers (but if using ground coffee beans, this is a good thing)

Flexbrew Single Serve Coffee Maker: The Verdict

I love being able to have the choice of different freshly prepared coffees – sometimes I don’t mind the coffee pods such as when time is of the essence. While at other times, I enjoy the aroma that comes from freshly prepared filtered coffee so for me when looking to buy a new coffee machine, the choice to have both options at a price that rivals many of the pod only systems, makes the decision pretty easy.

Overall, if you are after an affordable, lightweight, coffee machine that takes up very little space and is technically a‘two in one’ single serve coffee maker, than the Hamilton Flexbrew should be at the top of your list.
